Shooglenifty are a top class live act on the international Celtic music scene, mixing traditional influenced instrumentals on fiddle and banjo, with more contemporary rhythms, on drums, bass and electric guitar. The emphasis is on dance tunes, but interspersed with more gentle, drifting passages, often underpinned by the solid rhythm section. They will be joined this evening by the fantastic young players from the 2008 Fèis Chataibh Cèilidh Trail.

Dornoch Cathedral nestled in the square of this beautiful Sutherland town is one of the best known and best loved churches in the Highlands. Join us on Sunday afternoon for a free family cèilidh, featuring the local Gizzenbriggs traditional music group, who have delighted audiences both here and in North America over the years. They are joined by 2005 Mod gold medallist Fiona MacKenzie and her daughter Katie who is currently studying clàrsach and singing at the RSAMD in Glasgow.

Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham are true legends of the world traditional music scene. Over the years they have delighted audiences with their music and stories right across the world. As well as highly successful recordings, their numerous television and radio appearances make Phil and Aly one of the best known duos in Scotland. They are joined by singer Maeve MacKinnon, current holder of the Scots Trad music awards “Up and Coming Artist” title. She recently released her debut album “Don’t Sing Love Songs” to critical acclaim and will be accompanied by talented guitarist, Innes Watson.

North Coast Cèilidh
Donald Black Band / Addie Harper Jnr Band / Fèis Chataibh Cèilidh Trail
Durness hosts the return of Donald Black and his band to the North Coast. Donald is a true master of the mouth organ, with a very distinctive piping style to his playing. As well as this, Donald has entertained audiences the world over with his stunning slow air arrangements. Joining Donald and his band tonight is the Addie Harper Junior band, a real favourite of audiences in the North and in high demand for dances and accordion and fiddle clubs across the country. Completing the programme will be a selection of songs and tunes from the Fèis Chataibh 2008 Cèilidh Trail crew.
