Blas Festival announces a new mutual partnership with The Northern Meeting Piping Competition
to work together in developing our great traditional events
The Northern Meeting is the oldest international piping competition.
It takes place in early September in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands of Scotland.
One hundred of the world’s top pipers and fifteen of the most experienced judges gather for two days.
Every aspiring piper has a chance as there are several senior levels and a junior competition.
The Gold Medal for piobaireachd and the Gold Clasp for former winners are the most sought after prizes.

Murray Henderson six times winner of the Clasp will be competing against his daughter Faye.
Other competitors include Angus MacColl, Stuart Liddell, Willie McCallum and Roddy MacLeod

FRIDAY NIGHT IS CÈILIDH NIGHT
This year there will be a cèilidh featuring Stuart Liddell, Allan Macdonald and Gordon Walker amongst others.
The Waterside Hotel will be serving High Tea 4pm till 6pm and Dinner 6pm till 9pm - Booking is advisable
