with FRANK MCCONNELL (to be confirmed)
Chan ann tric a gheibh sinn an cothrom Caimbeulaich a’ Ghrìob a chluinntinn. Tha an teaghlach seo ainmeil am measg sheinneadairean seann nòs na h-Alba. Tha Kenna agus Seumas Caimbeul, na nigheanan aig Kenna – Màiri Anna agus Wilma, agus an co-ogha Magaidh NicDhòmhnaill, a’ riochdachadh dà ghinealach de theaghlach làn phìobairean is sheinneadairean às a’ bhaile bheag seo faisg air Dùn Bheagain, ann an coimhearsnachd far an robh òrain nam pàirt mòr dhen dòigh-beatha.
A rare opportunity this year to hear The Campbells of Greepe - one of the singing dynasties of Gaelic music. Kenna and Seumas Campbell, Kenna's daughters Mary Ann and Wilma Kennedy and niece Maggie Macdonald represent two generations of a family of pipers and singers from the tiny township of Greepe near Dunvegan, in a community where song was the constant to the way of life.

’S e ‘Hallaig’ dàn nam mìos seo. Tha an dàn drùidhteach, lèirsinneach seo mu dheidhinn Hallaig, fear de na bailtean a chaidh fhuadach ann an Ratharsair. Chaidh a sgrìobhadh le Somhairle MacGill-Eain an 1952, agus chaidh fhoillseachadh an toiseach ann an Gairm an 1954. Seo an dàn is dòcha as eòlaiche air a bheil daoine a-mach às a’ bhàrdachd aig Somhairle MacGill-Eain air fad. An 2002 dh’ fhoillsich Urras Shomhairle eadar-theangachadh de ‘Hallaig’ leis a’ bhàrd Èireannach a choisinn Duais Nobel, Seamus Heaney
This intense and visionary poem is
about Hallaig, one of the cleared townships on Raasay. It was composed
by Sorley MacLean in 1952, and was first published in Gairm in
1954. The poem is perhaps the best known of Sorley MacLean’s work, and
a translation of ‘Hallaig’ by Irish Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney was
published by Urras Shomhairle in 2002.
