About Blas

The Blas Festival has been devised by The Highland Council in partnership with Fèisean nan Gàidheal and the Promoters Arts Network. The Highland Council has contracted Fèisean nan Gàidheal to work with PAN and others to develop this festival for the Highlands. There are many reasons why Blas is important and they are reflected in our core aims:

The Blas festival aims to play a role in celebrating the culture of traditional music and Gaelic in the Highlands of Scotland

Blas will do this in part by creating the opportunities for young musicians to play and learn with leading artists in traditional music and Gaelic

Blas will also widen the opportunities for communities to experience and enjoy live music and Gaelic performances which support their culture

In doing so, Blas will become a major music and cultural showcase for a wide range of audiences beyond just Gaelic

Blas will be a festival which attracts festival-goers because of its authentic cultural identity

In achieving these aims we want to see Blas grow. That is why we welcome the support and partnership of individuals and organisations across the Highlands and beyond, who wish to join us in achieving these aims.

This year promises a Blas festival which is even better than last year. We hope you will come and sample its unique atmosphere and the special performances we will be staging. Blas is a true celebration of cultural importance – join us and play your part in making the festival bigger than ever!
